Churchwide Serve Day
On Sunday, October 25th, let's come together after church and connect as a community while serving in a way that provides a tangible, positive impact for local groups in our area.
From 11:15am-12:30pm, we will have various service project stations available throughout the building for all who wish to take part. There will be volunteer opportunities available for people of all ages and stages to participate, but please note that adult supervision is required for children.
We ask that you sign up here for the project you'd like to work on. Volunteers are also needed to assist with breakdown of the event. We look forward to serving alongside you!
Below are some suggestions of ways to serve if you're not able to join us in person on October 25th:
1. Notes of Encouragement
Take 20-30 minutes to send texts, emails, notes, or videos of encouragement to individuals in your contact list who need to be reminded that they are loved, seen, and/or appreciated.
2. Creation Care
Grab a trash bag (maybe some gloves) and take a walk. As you enjoy your walk, pick up trash in your neighborhood, at a park or playground, a shopping area, or on the edges of a safe street.
3. Help an Educator
Contact a local school for a teacher, specialist, or school-wide wish list. Take a moment to order a few items from the list and have them delivered to the school. Alternatively, take the list and go shopping. Deliver the items to the school this week. Include a note of thanks for their commitment to students in your area.
4. Assist a Food Pantry
Find the needs list for your local food pantry, then grab your wallet and keys and go shopping! (If you aren't sure of a pantry near you, Feeding America is a database of many food pantries in the US.)
5. Community Action
Take a moment to register to vote, to donate blood, and/or contact your local representative about an important issue in your community or state.
6. Acts of Kindness
* Help a neighbor with yard work.
* Buy snacks and drinks and deliver them to a local emergency room or fire department.
* Take some books to a neighborhood lending library.
* Bake cookies or deliver flowers to your neighbors or someone who you know needs extra encouragement.
* Decorate kindness rocks and leave them in your community (parks, gardens, libraries, stores, etc.).
7. Volunteer in the Growing Together Community Garden
Upcoming opportunities available here; no experience necessary.
