One Step
This series looks at God’s heart for justice in the world. Rather than let the injustices they see or experience go unnoticed, we want middle schoolers to look for even the smallest step they can take to move toward a better tomorrow for all. As you talk through it, point your kid back to the truth that God is working for good (even when we can’t see it) and calling them to take just one step to join that work.
WEEK 1: Where can you move toward justice? (Matthew 25:34-39, Matthew 25:40)
WEEK 2: You don’t have to face injustice alone. (Daniel 3:24-27)
WEEK 3: God loves justice. (Matthew 9:35-37, Isaiah 61:8a)
WEEK 4: Keep moving toward justice. (Galatians 6:9-10a)
REMEMBER THIS
"All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.” 1 Corinthians 12:27, NLT
DO THIS
Morning Time
As your middle schooler starts their day, tell them about something kind or thoughtful that they may not think you noticed, but you did.
Drive Time
While on the go this week, ask your kid about a time when they felt like a situation was unfair for either them or someone they know. Then, give an example from your own life as well.
Meal Time
At a meal this week, have everyone answer this question: “Where is a place you’ve seen an injustice in our community?” (It may be as simple as how someone is treated at school or as big as a larger social issue.)
Bed Time
Pray that you and your kid will notice things that are unjust in your worlds, and ask God what you can do about it.
