Let's Talk About Violence and Peace
In our culture, peace can be hard to come by. Because of the media we consume, the stories we see in the news, and the experiences we have with violence, recognizing what brings us peace can be challenging. In this standalone message, we’re encouraging students to not only develop an awareness of how their personal sense of peace is impacted by what they’re consuming or experiencing, but to ultimately choose to be peacemakers — just like Jesus calls us to be!
WEEK 1: Being a peacemaker starts with peace in your heart. (Matthew 5:9, Philippians 4:8-9b)
REMEMBER THIS
“Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise... Then the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:8-9b NLT
DO THIS
Morning Time
As your kid starts their day, ask them to play their favorite playlist throughout your home.
Drive Time
While on the go this week, ask your kid: “What’s your favorite way to relax?”
Meal Time
At a meal this week, have everyone answer this question: “What are some things that make you feel peaceful? And what are some things that don’t?”
Bed Time
Pray that you and your kid will choose to pursue peace in your hearts.
