What to Do When the Future Seems Uncertain
For students in this phase, thinking about the future can be a challenge. They live in the here and now, and they easily grasp what’s concrete. Those things combined make considering the future as a middle schooler… well, unclear! That’s why this series is designed to help your kid not just think about the future, but to recognize that, even when the future feels abstract, unclear, and hard to make sense of, God is and will always be trustworthy.
WEEK 1: You can trust God when everything else is uncertain. (Psalm 40:4)
REMEMBER THIS
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1, NIV
DO THIS
Morning Time
As your kid starts their day, let them know how much you appreciate something they did that they think you didn’t notice.
Drive Time
While on the go this week, ask your kid: “What do you think the world will be like in ten years?”
Meal Time
At a meal this week, have everyone answer this question: “What is something that feels uncertain in your life right now?”
Bed Time
Pray that you and your kid will trust in God no matter how uncertain and unsettling the future seems.
